what the story behind Promotional Codes ??!!

Hi

I'm a returning player played rift for like a 1 year (2013) , decide to go back to the game and try out the new things so a friend of mine through (Facebook ) give me a list of codes and told me to use them and of course I asked from where did he get them .

he told me that those are promo codes and are completely free i used the 1st one and this show up "Ally of the Ascended" but after that any code i try to use show up the error "

An error has occurred. Please try again later." so BOOM

tried to message my friend but no answer so far so i decide to post this i just hop i didn't do something stupid
