So, about Bitter Gust immunity

I've just finished tanking The Five Kanhs on my rogue. This is the Kanh that has a frontal short range Devastating Cleave (pretty much a one-shot if you don't move out of it) and a cone of fire breath as its attacks.

So, I'm happily tanking it, avoiding the cleaves by side-stepping them, and so on. Cue some incredibly 'helpful' Frostkeeper mage, stood in the pack of the raid behind the boss, who decides to cast Bitter Gust on me. I find myself in the middle of the raid, facing away from the boss, with the boss running towards me through the raid, where he does his cleave and kills some of the raidforce before I can re-position to where I was originally tanking.

After the kill, I decide to come to the forums to find out if there's a way to prevent this happening again whereupon I find... this post ...which says

In the RIFT store under Boosts you can buy a Tonic of Gust Resistance for 4 silver. This tonic grants immunity to Bitter Gust and lasts until you manually dismiss the buff. Heads-up though, on death you'll need to reapply.

Okay, so why is the onus upon me to keep a stack of consumables in order to be immune to trolling FKs and, even worse, why do they not persist through death? Why isn't there an in-game option to make this a permanent setting? As a tank I'm always aware of my positioning, especially when dealing with raid-class mobs which have mechanics that are capable of one-shotting either myself or parts of the raid-force, so the last thing I want is to be yanked around the combat area at the whim of someone else.

Please, make these potions persist through death or give us a permanent option to disable being susceptible to this.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
