As someone who plays the spec, in decent gear, yes... I can still survive a wide variation of situations. It's a bit of luck in some circumstances and some class/spec combinations aren't very effective vs a FK.
-FK's have useful buffs, take them off us.
-FK's are mana dependent, drain us.
-FK's are susceptible to CC mechanics, CC us.
Some FK's have specs which are partly tank (Arbiter). While their healing output isn't all that spectacular, their PERSONAL ability to survive is. These FK's aren't so great at keeping their team alive, kill their team first.
The number of FK's pre-1st nerf was incredible. The number of FK's after the first nerf was about half the original amount. The 2nd nerf culled the remaining FK's pretty effectively. There are only a handful of truly "good" FK's left. Most of the good FK's remaining were originally something else, and far more deadly. Now, they are phenomenal healers and pull out their original dps/dom specs only when needed. There were only a couple of truly "good" chloro mages in pvp. These have remained unchanged and are still crazy good to go up against.
What you're dealing with now isn't necessarily an OP spec, it's a talented PvP player. The changes have forced not-so-good FK's and those without good gear back to playing easier specs. This is good, necessary even. The remaining FK's behave and think like raid healers. They are mobile, adaptive, remove buffs from enemies, debuff friendly targets, survive, revive, pay attention to where their team is in relation to what the objective is. In short, these ARE THE PLAYERS we want and need in PvP.
My own personal belief is that there will still be changes made to FK's. I'm pretty neutral as to whether or not it will matter to the limited few who still play the spec well. Those who adapt well to changes will simply continue to push forward while still remaining viable. Those that can't, will opt for another spec to continue to play as.
*Sidenote: I have 1 of each class, all healers (except for my mage which I also play as Dom.) I'd agree with the limited ability to survive as a Physician (they could probably use another look to see why they aren't performing quite as well.) As for Sentinel I can't comment, I run as a warden (even before the changes.) Primalist healing has taken a beating and most Liberators are... missing.
