surviving and having fun in 2016

i returned after 3 years. i used grind,questing, pug, being in an active, committed guild doing group content. i was happy until i returned. i can't find an active, committed guild or even an active player. i am always pugging as a healer. i spam LF an active guild and no answer i am at the point of treating this game as a single player game, doing and maxing out all the classes by questing, then move on. i really do not want that. i love this game. but imo - the playerbase seems not that active/uncommitted. i hope i am wrong. i really want to stay.

1. what kind of the playerbase i dealing with these days?

2. how i do find a decent. active guild? if there are active guilds, do they really have very tight clique such that they don't want newcomers?

3. is pugging really the norm these days?
