What better way to end weeks of mindlessly searching for stuff than to have one last event where you....have to search for stuff. *insert maniacal laughter*

I've meticulously placed the max unique item count of artifacts around Shal Korva and will be rewarding those with the skill (and patience) to find them. That's right, there's LOOT!

1st place- 2 summerfest dimension grab bags
2nd place-1 summerfest dimension grab bag
3rd place-You get to watch 1st and 2nd open their summerfest grab bags. Ok, and maybe you get a fish or bird too.

*There will be TWO rounds:

-Round one requires the use of Jete's Bouncemaster 5000. It's a PTW dimension, c'mon, go with it.

-Round two is for those who don't have the Bouncemaster 5000 (or don't want to use it)

--Each round will last 20 minutes. I will give raid warnings periodically to alert contestants of time remaining.

**Event will begin at 7pm/7:30pm Server time NA, Wednesday 8/3/2016**

***Event is open to EU players as well. They need to participate on NA but I will happily provide contest winnings on their home servers***

Participants in round one will not be allowed to remove their bouncemaster buff at any point during the competition. At approximately the half way mark, I will call for a rebuff-and I will check so don't try and be sneaky. Participants in round two will not be allowed to use the bouncemaster buff yadayada. Basically, don't cheat. In the event of a tie I'm not sure what I will do yet but I still have 3 more days to figure it out. If there is some how magically enough interest in this scavenger hunt, I will hold a third round. Anyone who has participated in a previous round will not be allowed to join another cuz, y'know, fairness. I think that pretty much covers it. If not, leave me a message or comment and I will adjust this post accordingly. I can't believe you're still reading....I'm done now.

Lost my Legs:
A Mount that turns you into a Zombie without legs, causing you to drag yourself at your fastest mount speed.
I Was thinking something different from most zombies in game, maybe Focus on a bit more graphic Undead,

Unicycle:
This isn't my idea but i saw it in cross events one day. Obviously a unicycle Mount.

Bucking Bull:
A Bull that Bucks as it is Stationary

Skateboard:

Master of the Elements:
An Ever changing Levitating mount that Changes with the Seasons.
-Winter, A Levitation with Frost spirits lifting you off the ground.
-Fall, A Levitation with Autumn Leaves circling Around you.
-Spring, A Levitation with Gleaming light bursting from the Ground
-Summer, A Levitation with Fire Engulfing your body, similar to a super Saiyan

So I start a new account for my wife and get her into my guild. She gets to level 10 and makes it to Sanctum. She try to get into the guild bank and it won't let her. It says she is in a starter guild and there is no bank available. She leaves the guild, waits a day, and rejoins. Still no guild bank. Myself and my alt have no such problem. I have promoted her up in the guild, so she has all privileges. Does she need to be higher level, or is this a bug?

Shadeborn in PvP

I was wondering if anybody else is playing/has played Shadeborn in PvP and has an unfavorable opinion about its performance. It feels comparatively weak to Assassin, and the ranged damage buff, Innumerable Shadows, isn't all too useful since it has such a high energy cost, and double-pressing has happened on it with lag.

Consuming Depths sounds powerful by the tooltip description, but it doesn't seem to hit all that hard. Getting it to pop as an insta-cast is even worse because of RNG.

Target-swapping is inconvenient because you have to apply Void Touch, Strangulate, and Bond of Night. Innumerable Shadows is also necessary for the damage buff, as with Mirrored Strike whenever it comes off every minute.

Comparatively, at least in my experience playing Paragon as an extremely bare-geared warrior, Shadeborn is by far the inferior class in PvP. With Paragon, builders AND finishers can be ranged with Grasping, and Flurry is good for catching disconnects. With Champion and Warlord, I get 2 additional charges (4 total, including Thunderous Leap), and a pull + snare, so getting into melee range isn't very challenging at all. Getting to finishers is easier too with only 3 AP to cast Reaping Harvest, which is great alongside the other abilities that benefit from its smoothly-timed combat buffs.

Shadeborn can get combo points easily with Strangulate ticks, but applying those abilities along with the other buffs/debuffs makes you all the more vulnerable when other classes can start bursting you right off the bat.

Similarly, the only specs from the most recent soul pack release I've seen in PvP are Warchanters and Frostkeepers, along with some Maelstroms who are the top ranged specs and near top DPS specs overall for both PvP and PvE. Is there a reason why classes that have priority-based rotations like Runeshaper and Shadeborn are so ineffective in PvP, even though they are one of the strongest DPS specs for PvE content?

Otherwise is there anyone else who had success playing SB in PvP? Right now, I feel that Shadeborn is about useful for being competitive for raid content, which basically translates to me paying for the latest raids releases.

You know, having looked at your post history... you should know that in the past, the designers have specifically targeted builds that performed too close to optimally with only a single button, and redesigned them so that that was no longer the case.

If you want a game where you can play a 1-button DPS spec, then that game is not Rift.

Lil Shiny Companion Pet

I recently got the new Lil Shiny Pinata pet, and whilst the shiny drops seemed a really good idea, I am now having second thoughts.

Although your choice of pet is completely optional, having a pet that drops items at random moments sort of discourages you from summoning other pets, which is a pity

It's easy to not notice when your pet drops shinies and they can be picked up by other players

I am spending too much time constantly checking to see if my pet has dropped a shiny...

My pet drops a shiny just as I complete a teleport so I then try to scramble back to my original point to try and retrieve the shiny.

Just as a suggestion, could you make the pet drop the shinies directly into the player inventory, or make the pet interactable with on a cooldown?

What are your top three favorite WFs?

Mine are:

1. Black Garden

The traditional one. Since it is a small map, and everyone is fighting over the fang, the battles are fast pace and intense. Old school Black Garden is the best WF in my opinion.

2. Codex

Just an all around well rounded WF.

3.Blighted Antechamber

This map is just a blast, and it highlights personal ability more so than other maps.

A few Suggestions.

So ill cut straight to the point on this.

1) Can we have account wide mounts like we do minions? I don't see how this can effect the game negatively as you would still need level requirements to use some mounts. The only part that needs to be tweaked are the mounts that scale. So they reflect that of which level you are able to use.

2) Can we remove guild levels? They seem kinda pointless most guilds don't have over 50 people online and I doubt anyone will ever use the maximum capacity a guild can hold. Instead just make them have no level and make the perks static.

3) Can we separate PvP and bring back PvP stats? I understand that you are trying to cater for everyone but you can't please everyone. I myself play a lot of PvE and only PvP for the weekly and don't understand why we have to mess with their system if ours stay the same. Remember if you want to cater for everyone make sure to have some variety just to spice things up. If they want to PvP let them get PvP gear.

4) For the love of Regulos stop reusing old content. The whole point of an expansion is to bring something new to the game. No one wants to do a raid they did for a whole year 2 years ago. There are so many things we can kill and you give us something completely unrelated to the current expansion. IGP really? They don't even fit into the current story. I know everyone loved Hammerknell but that's just it. They loved it because it had such great pace and variety to it.

5) Change up the rifts. They have been around probably since the launch of the game and hasn't changed much over the year with some new varieties popping up but that's it. If I see a rift I go around it. Its nothing new we have been there and done it a thousand times. Make them feel new and exciting.

6) New zones are fun but give them a little more purpose. Take Tyrants throne and PTW for example. I bet half of the population if now more only use them to get to a raid or do weeklies.

These are my suggestion and I know some might sound harsh but I love Rift and want it to be awesome for everyone. I don't mean any disrespect to anyone on the Trion team and these are only suggestions from me a player.

A few Suggestions.

SOLVED: No sound in Rift after reformat of Windows 10

I recently reformatted my system. Fresh install of Windows 10 and Steam and Rift (through Steam)

System has been running great, except I couldn't get sound working in Rift. I'm using a Sound Blaster ZxR

I've updated drivers, reinstalled drivers, installed DirectX 9 web installer, and the redistributable. Updated and reinstalled everything I could think would be related to Rift.

I was running out of ideas, and for whatever reason I was clicking through the audio settings in Rift and I adjusted the Master volume within Rift (which was at its default of 90). As soon as I moved it, the audio started working.

I'm posting this to hopefully save others hours of troubleshooting and headaches, when it would be solved with simply playing with the slider.

pvp "dps" trinkets are completely worthless for some dps souls

the proc from warmonger's charm is consistently consumed as heals by warlock's life leech, and harbinger's reaper's blade and conditioned response.

they also do not contribute to the set bonus like the previous trinkets which we were told would happen, but hasn't.

can we get gear that actually works like it's supposed to? if i'm not in a healing spec, i don't want my trinket to heal me because i'm at 99% hp as harb or warlock.

But will there be any story or questline about the shadeborn, warchanter etc or is there and i missed them somehow?

That would be interesting if there was, be cool if was in a quiet zone like tyrants for example.

The storm/dream souls questline in meridian and sanctum going to moonshade underground sort of thing i am meaning.

Opportunity for some new acheeves and lore/background for game depth be cool.

I really think this would help new players adjust to PvP. Presets, labeled as for PvP.

I also think we need presets featuring souls with the new healing debuffs, as people just don't seem to be getting that those specs are intended to counter ST healers.

Different kind of leveling system

I was thinking about how to improve the gameplay experience for new players. With rising levels, questing all the way up to 65 (and soon 70) is getting kind of boring doing the same type of quests again and again.

How about this:
- Make a mix of IAs and story-quests (the story quests are cool actually)
- For every e.g. 20 levels, make a new IA available that tells the story to the players, i.e. players to the IA and while doing it, are basically "living" the story themselves (if that makes any sense)
- So that it doesn't become just about IAs, throw in some story quests here and there so that players get to explore the maps a bit

Even though this requires some work to implement, I think this would make leveling a bit more interesting.

Suggestion & Bug Status Page

In WoW and other competitor games it is possible to see which suggestions have been taken up by the dev team, which were rejected (and sometimes why), and for those suggestions taken what the status is of the suggestion in the development queue.

In a like manner we report bugs all the time. We get it that some bugs are never going to be fixed (like how there are untargetable Corrupting Infernos in Gyel Fortress hard mode). But others will be - and it would be good to know that they are accepted and in the queue. You should of course omit showing 'exploit' bugs but all the rest are 'fair game' to show. For example, many many people are affected by the 'zone in Rift crash'. Presumably you are working on this bug (or bugs). It would be nice to know that, what the progress is (Accepted, Rejected, Bug Duplicated by Rift, In-Que for Development, Assigned to Development, In QA Testing, Staged for Production Release, Fixed, Re-opened) for bugs reported by players.

Rift players are kept in the dark on this. It seems like in your dev tracking system you have this information. Probably something similar shows as HTML screens on some Rift suit's 'Management Tracking Tool' and wouldn't be that hard to modify to share w/ the player base.

1. Allow a drop down filter for artifact type {All, Normal, Twisted, Unstable, Bounty, Other, Fishing, Poison, Burning, Nightmare} with default to All. This is in addition to the existing {All, Incomplete, Complete, Turned In, Not Started}. BTW - thank you very much for the 'Not Started'

2. When in the Artifact tab and you also have the Auction House open it is a great convenience to be able to right click on the Artifact and have the auction house search done for that name. However, it would be even better if:
-- 2a. The search was restricted to 'Artifact' types only. I really don't want to buy a dimension item or piece of armour named the same as the artifact when clicking on the artifact for a search.
-- 2b. It would be great if the Artifacts brought back were only those that were clicked on. For example, there are two (or more) artifacts named 'Cat'. I don't want to buy the normal artifact, I want to buy the Unstable 'Cat'. But when I click on the Unstable 'Cat' icon to do an auction search it brings up the Normal 'Cat'. This is just an example - there are many cases where the same artifact name is used across artifact types.

Frostkeeper still ridiculous

Still an abundance of FK's in warfronts comparison to any other healing souls. The nerf to infuse magic simply wasn't enough to balance them for PvP. Im still seeing frostkeepers single handedly tanking 2-3 strong and geared dps at once laying out heavy focus fire yet hardly scratching the FK in the process.

I can pop my full paragon alacrity burst (yes i am geared) on an FK after they have already used infuse magic on themselves (I have kalerts) and often barely even scratch them at all, usually the burst not even being enough to swipe off their absorption shields which are constantly being applied as they heal themselves.

To make matters worse, most FK's take points into stormcaller for ride the wind so they have an additional cc-break + speed buff every 20 seconds.

Trion please look into further adjustments for FK's to bring them in line with other available healing souls in PvP environments.

Tiles to Squares

Someone brought up something to me the other day I had not thought of with some recent changes. Due to all the tiles being renamed to square many of the sets on RiftDimensionAddicts.com no longer work.

I am very sorry to those who created such wonderful pieces but I will have to start removing them next week since I do not know how to fix the issue. Nor do I have the tech skills to do it even if someone told me how to fix them. I greatly apologize to anyone whose set is removed it does break my heart.

However I do want to thank Tacitus for making the names more uniform and helpful for the future.

Weird happenings after the crashes?

I wasn't on during the crashes, but I did log on after them to do some dimension building. After about 20 minutes or so (could just be a very strange coincidence) my monitor went grey and froze. Restarted my computer and tried to log back in, but it gets stuck at 25% for a good 1-2 minutes and then the character select screen is quite literally moving at 1 frame every 6 seconds and it only seems to be Rift having this issue right now. I'm going to try restarting my computer again after posting this, but just wanted to see if anyone else has seen something similar happen.

Server Crashes are unacceptable

So this is the 4th evening in about a week that the server has crashed at our raid time. What I want to know from Trion is what they are doing to fix this? If servers are going to be so inconsistent as to make raiding impossible, it may be time to move to a different game. Your paying customers deserve an explanation.

I received an infraction for trolling/baiting.

I made a comment where I expressed an opinion:

"I have such mixed feelings about this "game" that Im not sure I care about any future expansions. It's like putting lipstick on a Pay-2-Win pig."

Didnt know the forum has become totalitarian. Not a good way to treat your paying customers, TRION. Continue drinking your feel-good koolaid. Everything is just fine.

Yes I would like to congratulate Trion, its' Developers, its' Programmers, heck even the Community Team for such as awesome game that Rift has become. Now don't let TROLLS bog you down and don't listen to their apathetic sort of vibe. You have constructed a sort of landmark with Glyph and all of its' games. On Forbes magazine it was said that you house a sum of 12 to 13 million across all your platforms. It pains me to read that you thought about stooping to the TROLLS levels and called us Murder Hobos but don't let the very few get under your skin. Allot of us honest Abe's support Trion and back them up with every last bit of penny.
I understand this game has its' bugs and it glitches but that happens in every game so all you downers **** and leave us honest working people to enjoy that which Trion has become. So THANK YOU for the next expansion which is so FRIGGIN awesome. I certainly for one have 12 months paid into Rift and would pay more if my wallet would allow. Now just to wait and see what the next expansion entails. So down from the bottom of my heart and many others' hearts THANK YOU. Rift has become a part of my daily habits so yea of course I can't live without gaming and Rift as many of us can't either, well enough spat for now but yea TY

Why is CQ still a thing?

So the PM size was reduced to 5 to help balance it, and I get that it was unbalance. The 20 man PM did make for unfair and lopsided matches. However, because interest is so low in CQ, 5 man PMs are doing the same exact thing.

The only people that actually stay in the game are the people that on the wining side, and most often that is the team that loads in with 5 people from the start. PMs are still farming CQ, so reducing them from 20 to 5 has not seem to resolve the issue.

So my question is: Why is CQ still a thing?

The latest one "Comet of Ahnket" was beautiful, and featured a pretty extensive VO script for some new characters. But more than that is that we made an attempt to make it more accessible to players that weren't in the top tier raiding guilds. Further we've make a real effort to take the experience and story of the raids and make it completely accessible to all players as an Intrepid Adventure. Further we've add more content, more VO, more story to these so we can really highlight the lore of these experiences, withouth getting in the way of you murder hobos Ascended heroes and your adventure.So TL;DR we'd like to get you to try raiding, we think we have some fun ones and want to make it worth your while in ways other than just equipment upgrades. But if you just can't, we work hard to let you know what you have missed.

Can something be done about LOITERING?

There are toons that are just there for hours on end. They are <AFK> but somehow they are never auto-logged out. My guess is that they have the soul screen open or something keeping them from getting logged out.

They make the environment look messy. Blocking entryways and mailboxes. Not to mention they also use up resources since more toons in a scene requires more GPU output.

How about putting them in an private instance when they hit the <AFK> point? So if by chance they are taking hours to spec their souls and macros (unlikely), they are not logged out but aren't in the way as well.

Just a thought.

Generally the cursor should remain where it is when it disappears while manipulating the camera, but indeed the option to have it remain visible but fixed in position would help in not loosing its previous position when looking around.

The only case I have seen where the cursor doesn't stay in position (and doesn't disappear) when manipulating the camera is when in free cam mode in dimensions which is even worse as you are constantly running over UI elements which stop the camera motion unexpectedly.

The former Rift App was finally discontinued for a bunch of reasons not all too long ago. Why should they try again after falling flat on their face with annoying (cr)app that never worked as intended? - Nightblade's Touch of darkness still put 10 debuff stacks on primalist so -50% heal ( as befor 3.7) + major and minor debuff. It mean they can deal 0 heal or dps 0 during 6 secs then -50 during the 14 last secs...

- Self-Heal Trinket can crit on primalist, it depend of your crit %, with full cp it's 85k+ heal

Mage :

About elem : Reclaim elements does not have heal reduction in pvp

About fk : breakfree still doesn't work sometimes

War :

About new warlord there are some bugs i heard about it. But i don't play it, so i can't help, if some warlord found it, let trion know

General bugs :

- as already said fading light doesn't work at all or 1 on 100 tries

- t3/t3.5 warpons's damages from rogue, war and primalist still dealing more than they should in wf, arround 5-10% more than warmonger warpons

- some people still crashing in wfs...

there are many other bugs but i hope some people will speak about it here and trion will fixe it...

Request: Stop Late Joiners to WFs

While I do benefit from a late join at times, being able to enter at a score like 900-700 and whatnot, I don't think this is beneficial for the game and for encouraging players to try in warfronts.

I can literally expect to lose my way to gear, on top of the already-formulated system of keeping your win/loss rate at 50%.

Additionally, the losses feel much worse, especially when you've been winning a warfront with your current team's raid composition. Today, I was in a KR Domination on my terribly-geared warrior, but I was determined to fulfill objectives as best as I could. I capped 6 objectives, and for a while we were leading the score from 450-200, while also going 3-0 for kills, assisting my teammates.

Then in the middle of the match, 5-7 more people entered the match, making it so that the other team had near full domination of the map, since they had a better raid composition at that point and simply more people to deal with logistically when trying to complete objectives. It doesn't matter then, that I had tried to continue to do objectives so as long as there were more people at caps that were getting healed and hence taking longer to flip points.

I don't think this is too much of a petty complaint. Lots of other players I'm sure have experienced being put in a warfront where the advantage is changed simply with the addition of a few more players, some more experienced than others. I know there was already a request to stop late-joins in matches in which the score was set at nearly at the deciding numbers, but the issue continues to be a problem on that front.

Now, I'm wondering why is it that people can just wait for longer queues with relatively small teams participating on all different maps. It would certainly give more variety when doing warfronts instead of being in Library of the Runemasters for the third time in the row or something to that effect.

Would have to see his healing break down to know if he went FK or not. 7 points doesn't get you much since you need 8 for Earthen Renewal. He could have been using his Eldritch procs to cast Rime though. Do you remember if you saw Frost Barrier up on him or nah? Would have also had minute shielding from Frostkeeper's Armor and whether or not he went 2 points into Stewardship for 3% mit from popping a ST heal. Conditioned Response will also proc FK armor (and Stewardship.)

64-bit now running on PTS

Following an update to the PTS earlier, i did my usually change to 64-bit in settings and lo and behold, i'm able to log onto PTS running 64-bit

Didn't seem to be a big download so maybe it just flagged as been able to use 64-bit, time will tell.

You can also log into EU and NA with 64-bit CPU ticked in Glyph settings

Faux's melee/ranged debuff name?

First of all Rift NT Raids guides are incorrect a lot of the time. The buff on the boss affects everyone. If people aren't spread out, any damage they do will radiate to nearby players. You want your melee to spread out, the boss has a huge hitbox so there should be plenty of room for all of melee to spread out. You want everyone to pick a spot around the boss and stick to that spot after every move.

Dependent on what buff the boss has you want those dps to simply stop attacking while they are getting into the dark circle. Like if he has the blue buff, all melee should stop attacking, run into the circle, run back out to their spot and then resume attacking. And the same for ranged dps for the green buff. Even healers that do damage should stop as well as their attacks will register as ranged. Most deaths on that fight will happen while running to that circle.

after the update today on the EU shards I have the following issue:
If I want to log in with one of my chars it stops at 10%. After a while it says "Connection refused because of incativity".
Logging in to US Shards is no problem.

Any ideas?

I think it would be cool if respecing had two options: Clean slate (which we have now) and subtract points. To be honest, I wouldn't even mind if it was full price both ways. It would be useful for when you're tinkering around building new specs and only want to change around like the last 15 or so points.

Where is Expert Equipment Merchant?

Heya all!, I am still kind of new to this game, been a week now and still trying to figure out all the locations of merchants and certain NPC's. One of them I can not find right now. I keep getting "Void Marks," and others saying that they can be used with the "Expert Equipment Merchant", or Armor merchant. I have to look at the marks somehow again, but still. But I looked all over the Sanctum, I assume he/she is at the other capitals but still would like to know before I loose my mind trying to find him/she lol. And Correct me if its not the "Expert Equipment Merchant" Its kind of hard to keep track of all the marks, coins etc. hehe

1. Is there a point in using discharge if you have the talent Destructive Forces? My devouring blow and decisive strike both seem to do more or equal damage without absorbing charges. The only benefit appears to be its range.

2. From greatest to least how valuable are these talents?

• 10% finisher damage

No PvP weapon progression.

So I am PvPing on my alts, both need to be geared. Now my warrior is almost in full dreambreaker, while my rogue is still wearing some crafted gear, and I realized without the Frenetic weapons there is no more PvP weapon progression at all.

If you are a PvPer you craft yourself a pair of blades, and unless you go raid for weapons, you are stuck with the crafted weapons until you can afford warmonger's weapons, and of course if you spend any favor on ranking up your gear, you are stuck with under-powered weapons even longer.

I really hate this WF box gearing system, but we if are going to be stuck with it, the Frenetic weapons need to be put back in the box.

From today's patch notes:
* Ember Watch forge no longer sells items for Infernal Marks of Ascension.

So... does this mean I can get the wardrobe appearances now?

I want and looked, and there's a Dragon's Bane Forge that sells items for a base item and an upgrade part. I know the upgrade parts drop in ID and I have some of them. But I don't see the base items anywhere.

So for example Mantle of the Dawn is bought with Infernal Mantle and Charred Shoulderpads (which I have). Infernal Mantle, according to Magelo, is sold at the Infernal Forge at Ember Watch. I don't see an Infernal Forge (just the Dragon's Bane and a regular one next to it). I also don't see an Infernal Mantle in Store > Equipment (level range 10-65).

Anyone know if/how to get the ID appearances now?

I'm considering dabbling in another MMO and this is one of the few major MMOs I've never tried other than 5 minutes in beta. It is by Trion which is a plus - I like Trion a lot more than most of the developers whose MMOs I have played and that is a fairly large number.

I know a lot of the plusses and a lot of the minuses but I have one question. How far can you realistically get without doing PvP?

The answer used to be "not very far" with sea travel and some or all of the higher level areas being exclusively open to being attacked by other players.

Today can you explore *most* of the content and get to maximum level relatively normally (by that I mean without grinding endlessly in lower level areas or a few instances) without doing PvP?

To say I am a carebear is an understatement - I spent 4 years in DAOC which is one of the classic PvP games (called RvR there of course) and almost all of it on the one PvE "coop" server Gaheris.

Rift Essentials Pack Offer Period

So, I have a grievance about the Rift essentials pack. Since it was offered til 8am server time, but maintenance started at 6.30am, doesn't this take off an hour and 30 mins off the time remaining for people to purchase the package? I, for one, am a last minute person who was more than willing to pay for this package, but as of now (about 7am server time), ready to purchase the pack, and to find the server in maintenance, wouldn't this be unfair? Why advertise for a certain time frame when you cannot meet it anyway?

Let's hope this works. Do we still need to report them or will the game system decide that afk player's are really afk? I am hoping for an automated system.

RiFT's Starfall Prophecy Expansion Confirmed!

With Legion slated to release next month, I think the tumbleweeds will be rolling through Rift Shards, even if the population is very low already.

Trion really should release some information soon about how much they are going to FOCUS on RIFT and its content instead of releasing new games non stop.

queue times are way too long. i entered a random dungeon queue, went for lunch and came back 3 hrs later. To my astonishment, i was still in the queue for it.

WTF? This has to be fixed to retain both new(like a WoW-accustomed player like me) and old players.

I know Rift is not a WoW clone(so far, the game's been meeting my expectations), but fast queue times was one of the major plus point in WoW. Other wise, y would i even consider paying real life money to be a Patron or anything for Rift(when i would consider doing so for WoW in regards to the fast queue times since the new Expansion is coming in August next mth)?

Old Zone improvements

One of the ongoing arguments among players is whether or not Rift is ptw. Not taking sides in this arguement here, as I got better things to do :P But, I do think that you could go solve several issues, including this argument, with some simple changes.

Issue that I see include: the mentioned ptw argument and lack or any real participation in older parts of the game. Many newer players seem to want to jump in on the power-leveling bandwagon and skip everything they can to get to end game material. So, I figure, let's make it more rewarding to players who actually play through the game rather than power-leveling through ia's, and running (or being ran through as the case really is) certain instances.

1) Reward special things for completing certain tasks. One example, once a player has completed 1000 (just a random number I choose for now) non-daily quests, they gain access to the ah. You could come up with a wide variety of awards that would encourage players to actually complete tasks. To make it fair, simply set it as an account wide based achievement deal, thus allowing players alternative routes to some useful game aspects.

2) Revamp the zone to make doing them more rewarding and useful. Right now, unless you are a completionist, there is quite literally no point in doing anything in the old world. One thing that was done already that helped this was the implementation of the wardrobe system currently in use. This means players who wanted more options needed to complete those old notorieties in order get whatever wardrobe options they offered. I would further expand the notoriety quartermasters inventory by updating ti to current things that are in the game. For example, add minions. I would also consider the addition of cross-zone quests more often, as is seen in some of the saga quests. Even dailies could be used for this. You could be quested in the plane of water to clear out a powerful nightmare mob that hid itself in x (like Silverwood). Travel to Silverwood, hunt down the mob and kill it, return for reward.

There are plenty of things that could be done, even as small tweaks, but I am certain you could make it much more interesting for players and useful for them.

Old Zone improvements

Crashing constantly

Started playing a few days ago, not a single crash. Finally progressed to Stonefield and constant crashing every 15 seconds to 5 minutes. Left Stonefield and back to Freemarch, ran around closing portals for over an hour, no issues. Went back to Stonefield started again. Then I tried different shards and it started crashing in FreeMarch, like within seconds of loading, sometimes as soon as the game loads up. Tried the repair to no avail. Reinstalled 3 times(Steam and Glyph installers), transferred to a different shard and all the same outcome. Now it last about 2 to 3 minutes until it crashes. No other games give me issues, gave up and played Guildwars 2, World of Tanks, and World of Warships for hours each and no issues. Tried all the cut and paste answers, so no need for that advice.

Oh yeah and tried lowest GFX settings and Ultra, same outcome.

Arak, the Universe and Everything...

I'm a returning player. Left shortly after Rift went F2P. Came back hoping to re-live the fun times of years past.

It's been over a month and I find myself longing for the old Rift. Even wishing Trion would dedicate a shard to "classic" Rift with actual subscribers and old code.

I was having it out with Arak in an IA, when it dawned on me....I cant even see him because of his size. For most of the battle I just see this huge monstrous camel-toe. I'm just firing away at a camel-toe monster.

Oh well...move on.

Another scene..Im fighting this huge statue of Lady Justice...when she starts walking through walls. WTF? Who is coding this?

At the end of the fight, we are waiting to transport to another scene....and waiting...and waiting...

..it never happens. People leave the raid to hopefully log into a functioning one.

Never mind....off to Sanctum, my old stomping ground.

I port in, mount up and take off to the AH and all around me I see.....green condoms. And they stay that way for some time. Hmmm?

I then discovered something new.....AH lag. See kids, once upon a time when you bought something at the AH, it showed up at your mailbox. Instantly!!!

It will get better I say to myself. Summerfest time!!!

After several days of painful grinding I discover that there is no way in hell you can get enough bracelets to get the items I want. The only option is to pull out ye olde credit card.
OMG!! Is this what they mean by F2P?

Never mind, I love doing Dungeons....off to some dungeons. After a some long queues, the group I'm with bypasses all the mobs with "short cuts" to the few key bosses and we're done? The rewarding loot is pathetic. This scenario played over and over again.

At this point I concede that the Rift I once knew and loved is dead. I never heard back about my request to activate my old account---aside from automated responses. The game is terribly buggy and constantly going down, and quite frankly very depressing knowing what it once was like. The myriad of "currencies" is confusing as is gear progression. IA gear drops bypass player crafted gear, NPC quartermaster gear, and dungeon drop gear. All except the Rift store "gem only" gear.

One month of patronage is all I'm giving. Sadly, I'm quickly losing interest.

Maybe I'll just go fishing.
