Comprised of partial or complete sentences that are obviously out of place (e.g. Getpwned, Luvtodance, etc.), though compound names that are fitting of RIFT, its people, the actions taken therein, and its setting are acceptable. Compound names are an important and valid part of every fiction, and ours is no different.
That refer to pop culture icons or personas (e.g. McLovin, Kylebroflovski, Catwoman), which may be found in violation if they do not also have a corresponding basis in RIFT, its people, its history, its characters, or its setting. Now the name in mention was Kaleshnikove@Faeblight as quite a few people (namely anyone in hellokitty@hailol) will likely recognize. As of this morning it appears that this name and any variations of this are not allowed to be used on Faeblight. Because of this, I was forced to leave my guild to keep character how I like her to be and transferred back to Deepwood.
This is hugely unfair to myself and anyone who would possibly wish to transfer to Faeblight to play in the near future. Because of this rule anyone who made a name on a shard where the RP names do not apply, is subject to losing their name when they swap to Faeblight if it references anything in the slightest. When I first made my toon, I was just looking for an extension to the name "Kale". Thinking that the full name "Kalehsnikove" sounded bad*** I just rolled with it. The fact that it happens to have a similar pronunciation to "Kalashnikov" was just a bonus.
With the way shards work now, this rule needs to be adjusted to just include the section relating to names that just the usual inappropriate stuff. With the current system in place, unless you specifically name your character with the RP name rules in mind, you are essentially banned from using Faeblight as your home shard if your name might thinly references something.
What makes this worse is that someone could possibly open a ticket about your name, somehow link it to something and a GM will then have the right to remove your name. Players who might accidentally reference something will receive a forced name change. This is bad. Players can abuse this system (and from what I've heard from friends on Faeblight) and have already abused it on occasion.

Because I was banned from using that name on Faeblight, I am now unable to use it on all shards. Even where it is not currently in use.

The fact that character names are being used to regular RP is also kinda ridiculous. I've met numerous people in-game via RP who use a completely different in-character name. Using a toon's actual name is completely secondary to RP and referencing it from RP without knowing it is RP meta-gaming. This is another reason why the rule should be adjusted.
That being said, I appealed my case.
The best I can ask is for from the devs is for cross-shard name lock to be lifted because that's completely unintended.
