Few reasons not to play rift.

Even though its a free to play game.

Here's just a few reasons off the top of my head..

First one is namely that the coders/developers don't test their work out at all. Every patch they release creates more problems. Those problems do not even relate to what they specifically fixed. All they care about is that the code won't crash the servers. So why bother having a Public Test Server (PTS) at their disposal if its not going to be used at all. They have a whole list of known bugs. But haven't bothered to check to see if any of those problems on that list, relate to what they made.

Oh wait, looks like they removed that mega-thread list of known bugs and issues. Wonder why. Probably because none of it has ever been fixed.

5-6 weeks ago, they added a griffin pet which looks more like a overgrown fluffy blue parrot, than a actual griffin (not the griffin / penguins in TG). And by doing so, they glitched all the combat pets for that ranger role. Now if they had even bothered to test this stuff out on the public test sever (PTS). They would have seen that the animations are causing the pet to go inactive, and bleeding into the other combat pets for the role. They would have noticed this within the first 20 seconds of even bothering to test this stuff out. But apparantly could not take the time to see the effects of adding in this new pet. I might also add, it took them nearly 3 years to actually get the pet off the drawing board and into the game. That was Vladds job back in 2013-2014. Would have been what, 3 years if august had rolled around.

When this griffon pet came into being, they also broke the limit on premades for conquest. Which they had supposedly fixed what, 2 and a half years ago? I would know because when i joined a conquest with 4 of us on one team. Wanting to try out this griffin. I went down to take eye early, alone. And a full raid came down to send me into my next life. I stayed dead for about 25 seconds so i could count names. And they had a full 20 players, within the first minute of the countdown timer ending. Where as my team had 4 players.

So how do they go from adding in a new pet with that patch.. to breaking code that was pre-existing years ago. I haven't a clue, but it happened.

Then there's the sound issues which have yet to be fixed, and for as long as i can remember, this specific issue which causes client crashs. And has probably been reported tens of thousands of times, if not more, over the years. Still remains. When your sound bugs out, its just a matter of time before your client crashs. Known bug, never fixed.

Now they got this multi-core going, which reverted everyone's base video settings to have it on, regardless if they have a multi-core system or not. Lets force your settings to have it on by default. Cute. Instead of giving people the option to actually turn it on in the first place. Having the multi-core option there is ok, its fine, its dandy. What does it improve atm. Absolutely nothing.

Then there's stuff like unstable planar cache's dropping off every few kills, sometimes twice from one loot off a single kill. Its even included in minion rewards, and crafting rift rewards.

They might have been relevant to have in the game 2-3 years ago, before the primalist roles came out, and before the planetouched wilds came out. As the items in them are pretty much only useful to players from that timeframe, years ago. Now however, everything inside them is outdated, and stat-wise less than half of what you can get out of a pvp reward crate for the win. People won't pay to open them, simply because their so outdated their not even useful. They seem to be a permanent part of the game now.

Now don't misunderstand me here. I actually do like playing the game, when its not broken in ways that affect my character. But the way things keep going. Well its kinda like trion is intentionally trying to break the game even further, so they can end it and move onto other projects.

They lost a good majority of players when primalists came out, simply because people had spent alot of real cash on tradeskill extensions. And in order to play the new roles, one had to make a new toon. Thus, everything you spent on the old main toon you had, just became worthless. Sure, you can go back to it anytime, for your crafting dailys and anything else you need, but if your going to have a main toon as a primalist, and you want the convenience you paid for on that other toon, then its one or the other. All that work, getting it geared up. Money spent on tradeskill extensions, mounts, achievements, recipes you worked ur butt off getting. For nothing. Simply because they couldn't include those souls onto a base class, instead of a new one. And now they release yet another new soul pack, with more issues to go along with it.

Its really not a wonder at all, why so many people are upset with Trion.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
