Convince me to play again!

Since I don't raid or PvP, I won't speak to those; I will address content and general PvE gameplay.

If by "the last expansion" you mean Storm Legion (2.x), a lot has gone in since Nightmare Tide (3.x) went live. Three large zones (and one mini-zone) in the Plane of Water are now content for 61-65. In addition, after years of people like me trying to get over an invisible wall, the huge zone of the Planetouched Wilds (NW of the Droughtlands) is now available for lvl 65s.

(Yes, this means new dungeons, new raids, new Chronicles, and new Instant Adventures.)

The latest sagas are the Nightmare Saga (throughout the Plane of Water) and the PTW Saga (I forget the exact name off the top of my head). Content-wise, they're quite good, and surprisingly compelling.* There are a LOT of callbacks to earlier content and lore, and setups for some interesting developments to come. And Lord Arak (the big bad from the Nightmare Saga) is the EMBODIMENT of snark, and always fun to listen to.

We see the continuance of the shift in relationship between the Guardians and the Defiants, not only within the Empyrean Alliance, but just amongst themselves.

Personally, if you're hellbent on getting to 65 like so many are, then this will mean nothing to you because as you said, you'll just end up grinding your way to endgame. But if you want to stop and smell the Coastal Glory along the way, there's certainly plenty to do.

*The asterisk is there because I *PERSONALLY* loathed how the PTW saga ended, in regards to NPC character development. Rather like the original STAR WARS films, Act I was good, Act II was BRILLIANT, Act III was "really?".
