best PVE gear to buy (for pvp) with currencies?

After giving up on most of my alts I'm finally geared up decent on my main, and I'm beginning to have a lot of marks&stuff stacked from my daily charges/weeklies... Wondering what I should buy.

I think I saw a guide a few months back about the best PVP/PVE gear mix up, but I can't find it now. And it's hard to just figure it out just by looking at the items, with procs and the bolstered stats and all that.

I tried to look at a few top-geared pvp'ers but they don't have all the same things so I'm not sure... Some use 3 warmonger weapons, some use only 2 and a pve weapon, and so on.

Is there some up to date guide on the best items for pvp?

Optional question, I don't really follow on the pve scene, is there any pve update coming that I should wait for before buying anything? I heard new pvp trinkets were coming, ready for that, but just making sure I'm not spending all my pve marks right before they bring up better stuff.
