Players are missing the point...

I keep reading all these threads about how bad everything sucks in Rift. I'm astounded that people spend so much time on the forums, or in game chat, just complaining about every little thing. I mean, if you're honestly that disenchanted with the game, why are you logging in? Right now with Summerfest going, I see people complaining that they can't get enough bracelets. So what? Save it up, next year you will have enough and the gear will be even better. Dislike the scavenger hunts? Don't do them. Personally I love them. It's something different to do, other than just grinding IA's and crifts.

The cry of "PTW!" has circulated ever since the game went F2P, but it isn't. By definition, it cannot be. It's an RPG. Let me repeat....it's an RPG. There is no "win." You don't finish such a game, you just keep playing. I also find it irritating when such claims are made by those who do not engage in the ONLY activity in the game that is competitive...PvP. If you don't do Warfronts, why do you even care how geared up the next player is? Or, more to the point, how they got that way?

With Summerfest in full swing, I've been trying to earn enough bracelets for either the seal, or the weapon. I doubt I'll make it, I just don't have enough time due to multiple employers. I'm not upset at Trion over it. If I DO get the seal, well then Woo Hoo! If not? I keep playing the game. See? it isn't that hard to enjoy yourself.

My point with this entire post is that if you stress out over things like not earning event currency fast enough, or someone else getting better gear by opening their wallet, you are probably focusing on the wrong things. This game isn't a competition about who can gear up fastest, or who has the absolute best. BiS gear isn't even required for any content in the game. Not having BiS gives you something to work towards, anyway. Bottom line...games are supposed to be fun. That's why I play. I'm guessing that's why we all play. You don't HAVE to have the very best to have fun. If you stress out about how hard it is to get certain items, you are most likely not having fun.

I'm certain I'll get flamed for this post, and quite honestly I don't give a Bogling's butt. I just hope some of you reading this take a moment to think about why you get so upset, and hopefully remember why you started playing Rift to begin with.

Five years on, I'm still having fun in Telara. Want to join me?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
