Prior to the Nightmare Tide expansion I was a huge fan of PVP. I loved that my hard work paid off with gear which gave me an advantage over others; my victories felt earned.
Now PVP feels much more imbalanced, grinding PVP actually gets me nowhere because I already have gear better than the PVP sets. And all the skill in the world doesn't mean much when someone with better gear with little PVP experience can still blast you away.
Here's a list of ideas that should be considered to improve PVP.
1. Remove Bronze Tomb. I'm not joking, it's a really terrible warfront and it waste everyone's time. Either remove it, or rework it so there are not ties majority of the time.
2. Most PVP ideal melee roles need to be reworked. Melee roles should have better damage mitigation, cc reduction, more stuns or slows that can easily be applied, and perhaps reduce melee damage output. The only time I ever go melee is if I need to burst carriers. I know I'm going to die immediately after because I have no way to survive outside by burst damage; but at least the carrier dies. This is a really stupid way to have to play. If there is no way to make slows or stuns more effective melee range should be increased. I don't know how many times it felt like I was right on someone but they were 'out of range'. Also, please please PLEASE fix charges. If you charge an enemy from maximum range (or even halfway) the root granted from most charges generally wear off before you even get to the target. Apply the root after you reach the target, simple.
3. Change debilitates back the way they were; or at least reduce duration by half. The debilitate is really useless against many physical classes as they tend to lack channeled abilities. The changes to debilitates make it more difficult to play tactically against many roles. Perhaps change it so that if an interrupt occurs the enemy takes the full debilitate effect. If no interrupt occurred they take half the effect.
4. Lastly, this is a fresh idea. A separate set of gear earned through PVP with stats that only worked in PVP was very rewarding for those that played in world or warfront PVP a lot. However, that's a lot of overhead for game devs and who really wants to carry around an entire extra set of armor again? How about instead giving a boost based on prestige rank. There's already a lot of damage flying around in warfronts so I don't think giving a boost which gave more damage would be a great idea. Rather make it reduce damage taken, and likeliness to be crit. Imagine how easy this would be to implement? A simple percentage of your prestige rank. Really easy to add to the game, and effective for hardcore PVPers.
As a vivid PVPer these are things that stand out to me the most. The melee play style needs a HUGE work-over but #4 could be an equally rewarding change.
Make PVP great again! Few small ideas that could go a long way.
