this has been brought up before but its time to do it again.
trion needs to spend some dev time to creating training grounds for new players. if you;ve been playing for a while you know that overall player knowledge and skill is at an all time low.
we've all heard the stories about players that don't even know that you can make your own builds, they get the presets and think that's all they can do. its time to teach new pve players the basics. interrupts, aoe, and single target dps. with the introduction of ia and the overall emptiness of low level content players are leveling faster than ever yet not knowing nothing about their own class. now i'll admit this it's tough, so many different souls so many different builds are gonna be very confusing for a completely new player. yet lets be honest most souls aren't that hard to play at a min level.
before you can enter any expert dungeon you should be able to understand the concepts of purging, aoe dps, single target dps, heals tanking and interrupts.
this is where the training grounds come in. players should be require to meet minimum dps standards for their class and role. im at 800 hit im playing x class y role, this is where my dps should be. now there's too many roles to do all that so at the min the top played specs should be suggested to new players, ex pyro for range mages, mm for range rogues and so on.
next aoe roles should be explained to new players and they should be made to parse against a group of adds.
purges and ints should be taught as well, have new players should fight a mob that kills them if they fail to int or purge, would be a nice addition to the dps requirement, you learned how to dps at a min level, now dps and int at the time. yes i know all specs dont have int or purge. for example mages would have to spec into necro to purge and that's something that's not ever really done. but thats not hard to get around as long as its properly explained.
healing and tanking should be explained as well in the same manner, heal x player till y time, tank x adds while interrupting y mob.
looking at the pts i can see that trion is trying to help new players with things like veteran dungeon status but lets be honest that's not really gonna change anything, its just new players being carried by more experienced players. so you may be a trion employee and say 'why don't you teach them' or "show them a guide" the problem with that is that alot of people don't want to be told what do no matter how nice you say it to them that they could be doing better if they did this or that.
i was just in a dungeon and had a rogue doing like 600dps playing tact in a old 50 dungeon, we finished the dungeon no problem, i guarantee this person is gonna get to 65 and think its absolutely fine to play that role and complete the dungeon no problem, and that person is gonna get kicked and get upset at the game because they don't understand what they were doing wrong.
please post any ideas you may have as well if u agree or if u have a more in depth explanation of any consept that's more than welcome.
please trion stop expecting your old time players to teach the basics to new players, some of us are tired of getting told to **** off, or ignored no matter how nice we are with our words. if you need help getting this done there are plenty of players willing to put in some time to help get this done.
